UNIT 5 🎤

In this unit, we focused heavily on podcasting which I loved because I thoroughly enjoy podcasts. I have had little experience in actually making them. I only recorded one podcast in my life and it was in high school. I did a podcast of interviews with the actors in the school play for the media page as a way to get more people interested in seeing the show. Students outside of the theatre club enjoyed the podcast, they thought it was funny and it did bring more people to the box office for the school play. And I will say, I had a lot of fun recording it, and not solely because it got me out of class. I loved getting to go further into the actors' experience with auditions and rehearsals. That started my interest for podcasts. Now I listen to a whole bunch of different podcasts, like criminal podcasts and just plain comedy ones. One of my favorites right now is the You Should Know Podcast. Their short videos have flooded my TikTok feed and it got me to watch their full videos. I think the two hosts are the funniest people on the planet. They talk about the stupidest crap sometimes but it is the perfect thing to listen to/or watch when I am getting ready or just doing
homework and I need something on in the background. But as far as podcasts being used in education, I think it is a very helpful tool because some students benefit more from listening than reading or watching. Some students are able to multitask very well where they can listen to the podcast as homework and still be doing other things. And it gives students to open up another door to media. Like I have said before, I know how much media is disliked by older generations, but media is here to stay so we all got to get on board with it. There are forms of media that can be a great education tool and I believe that podcasting is one of them. It gives students a fun way to discuss something. A new way of storytelling. As it said in Monday's reading, Voices and Sounds Heard: Composing Through Narrative Podcasting, it gives students to uncover hidden likings to stories they may not have ever thought of before. I'll say it again, it gets students to open their eyes to all these possibilities to get a point across.
That is really all I have to say about that, but if you are in the mood for a good laugh, I definitely suggest checking these guys out. I'll post a funny short below.
